A Month In the Life of 1st Madeley, April 2018

camping

April has been a quiet month for all involved with the Easter Holidays taking up two weeks of the month however, we have still managed to pack in a fair bit of adventure and fun. The Beavers and cubs attended our districts fabulous bi-annual gang show at the begining of the month which celebrates all the musical and acting talents we have within the Newcastle Under Lyme District with a special mention required for William, Pippa and Briony who were part of the show giving a fabulous performance under the watchful eye of the Mayor of Newcastle Under Lyme.

All sections took part in our St George's day celebrations on Sunday 22nd with everyone looking very smart in their full uniforms marching through Newcastle Under Lyme, this is one of the few times of the year when all sections get together in full dress uniform and is quite a sight as we join up with all the other local groups to make a large scouting display.

The Scouts however, had the biggest adventure this month as it was their turn to go on camp and was Madeley's first camp of the year. It was with much intrepidation that we set up camp under a weather warning for thunderstorms and heavy rain, yet much to the relief of everyone involved the forecasters turned out to be wrong and we had lovely sunshine for nearly the whole weekend.

Despite all the success of the last month, Scouting is led by volunteers and we need more help especially with the Beaver and Cubs section, if you would like to get involved, even if you don't feel you can commit to a weekly meeting, please do get in touch. Also if you have a child that would like to join the scouting family feel free to call me, my contact details for all sections are Jared Whtiing 07951 320434
